Gambling Harm Awareness Workshop
This is a workshop that equips people with skills and understanding that are essential in todays climate of stress, overwhelm and exposure to addiction by design. The Gambling Harm Awareness Workshop has varied application in schools, workplaces and community groups. After years of running workshops in a variety of settings like Universities and ACTCOSS (ACT Council for social Services) The Hope Project aims to work collaboratively with existing services and organisations to train individuals and groups, especially those in caring professions, about the current gambling landscape and its harms.
What is Gambling Harm Awareness Training?
This training combines new and existing research and has a powerful impact on audiences and is easy to comprehend and make mental shifts in understanding the complexity of this public health crisis. The workshop is facilitated by lived experience of gambling harm so this resource is designed to create connection and cut through. The workshop can be easily adapted and tailored to audiences of any age and cater for any corporate needs.
What we know about gambling harm is that Australia is the nation most harmed by gambling in the world and year on year we see the industry profits continue to soar, while the losses the community faces and its devastating impacts go on being ignored by this in positions of power that have failed the community in providing a gambling landscape with consumer safeguards in place.
Why is this important? The conversation that exists at the moment is completely inadequate to both help or prevent people from experiencing gambling harm, that all too often leads to catastrophic personal outcomes.
I look forward to connecting with your group or organisation further to help facilitate this vital work, that could save the life of a co worker or family member.
